Have you seen this message before? I have a few myspace pages myself. Because I am a recording artist and producer, I have a myspace band page. But when I am trying to network and add people in the music business I come across alot of “does not accept add requests from bands”.

That message is a big problem. I am unsure of why people would restrict add requests from bands. If you keep in mind that alot of those “bands” are single artists like myself. I am a consumer. So what if you let those thousands of bands add you so you can market to them? Denying such a request is a marketing no-no. It is bad for sales. It is bad for traffic. It is bad for your reputation.

Bands are not always trying to leverage your connections into a record deal. They may simply want to keep updated on your work. And if they are not your friend on myspace then they cannot get your bulletins about new albums, tour dates, and invites to concerts. It is plain stupid to restrict consumers from your product.

Google Analytics is a detailed stats tracking system that shows webmasters where their traffic comes from and how long visitors stay, among other things. Most webmasters use the system to find out how their marketing efforts are doing. However, the analytics usage goes deeper than that.

When you are in the business of ecommerce you most likely hope to one day be bought out by a large billion dollar corporation. Think broadcast.com which was bought from Mark Cuban by Yahoo, Inc. Mark Cuban now owns the Dallas Mavericks. I wish I could afford to buy the Chicago Bulls, and maybe this season we might win a championship again.

But back on track…. The purpose of tracking your stats is so you can use that free information to leverage it into a buyout or at least a very profitable revenue stream from selling ad space. Think MySpace which uses the huge traffic statistics to get millions is ad revenue. Their adsense alone has to be making them some phat cash!

When you setup your website it is very important to track your visitors. You need to know how they found you, what pages they visited, what keywords they searched, and how long they stayed before they went to another website. This information is the basis on how much your company is truly worth!

I have been busy the past couple days and unable to post here. I work long hours. I have been providing marketing lately for those who wish to get immediate traffic and leads rather than gaining top 10 rankings through a lengthly process.

To market and generate immediate leads you MUST use common websites such as craigslist, myspace, facebook, linkedin, kijiji, digg, backpage, and many forums and blogs out there. But at the same time you have to stand out by actually posting quality rather than hype. You can always make your ads, or posts look professional, genuine, and un-spamlike by NOT SPAMMING. Because I was marketing quality it took time, hence my lack of posting here.

Spammers ruin good things fast. What I mean by that is that MySpace used to be a great place to go and every now and then post a bulletin or classified ad while you are adding friends and networking with new people. Now, you will be lucky if anyone sees your classified on MySpace because nobody really looks at those except for the people posting them.

To get around the feel of spam and still use a social networking website to generate traffic you have to be smart. Simply interacting with your friends and associates on MySpace is the way to go. MySpace allows you to post comments in html format, if the friends profile is set to accept html comments.

This being said, you can create custom comment images and link them to your website. You can also provide those same image codes for free to your friends and visitors so they are marketing your website while interacting with people they know.

We recently started doing this and taking it more seriously. You can see our previous blog post about it. We have been monitoring our stats and noticed a large amount of clickthroughs from MySpace profiles where the comment image was posted. By doing this you can actually generate hundreds, or even thousands of unique visitors to your website fairly quickly.
