Algorithms are a play of numbers and how those numbers are handled which gets applied to search keywords and phrases. The algorithm is quickly applied to the search that you do, and a website is displayed on the first page that beat out all the rest of every single indexed website for that keyword or keyphrase.
Google is a search engine that has a complex algorithm. The problem is that they do not rely on a good numbers based algo only. They also rely on old factors that are simply outdated and unreliable.
Example 1: You do NOT have to use meta tags (keywords and descriptions) in order to get indexed and ranked in Google. BUT if you DO use those meta tags and they do not match the content, then you lose points in the algorithm. If you use those tags and they DO match content for that page, then you earn a few points toward relevance.
Example 2: Inbound links are unreliable. It is one way that the rich can outperform the poor. Inbound (one-way) links can be purchased. Simply said, you can buy a large amount of one-way links from websites in the same industry as yours that have high PageRank and your own PageRank will increase 3 or 4 at a time even before you update your content regularly. Even reciprocal links have that power (lesser). I was able to get PR3 on a brand new unindexed website within 30 days time.
Unless Google starts using common sense, rather than the rooms full of PHD’s, then Google will never truly be relevant. Therefore, their current boast as the worlds most relevant search engine is nothing but hogwash.

When you think “dynamic ecommerce”, you think “how will search engines index my website?”. But don’t worry! E-commerce websites can easily be made to look static. In addition, their content management systems can make it even easier to optimize your site.
One of the major raning killers are sessions. Those are the long ugly mess of letters and numbers squashed together after the dot come in the url. Those sessions can be hidden by using apache’s mod_rewrite feature. That would turn the session url into a keyword or shortened url so search engines think it is a static web page.
You can also mod your ecommerce website to allow automatically generated meta tags for your products based on the product description and title of that page. Some ecom sites allow you to insert your own meta tags to override the automated ones.
In addition to the lovely features that most ecommerce sites have, you can create a shell of your web page and insert static content into it. This is for content pages such as articles related to your industry, your faq or about us page, etc.
While you are working on optoimization of your e-commerce website, do not forget to add a Wordpress blog into the integration. The blog will allow you to update your content regularly with new articles and company news. It keeps search engine spiders like Googlebot on your website indexing like crazy!

When you are gauging your seo campaign you need to figure out one of two things:
- Is your hired seo actually doing the work that was promised?
- If yes to the above, are your expectations set too high?
The two reasons above are why most business owners claim to have had a bad experience in the past with seo. Either they were taken by someone who was lazy, or they thought that seo was the end-all to all marketing.
Search engine optimization is just the actual onsite work done to make your website more visable to search engines. It is done once, and then done again when the search engine algorithms change (which they do often). Search engine marketing is a completely different ballgame and is an ongoing process. SEM when done properly is meant to get your website multiple top 10 rankings for various target keyphrases. Whether or not the SEM campaign is effective is determined by your budget.
Are you spending $300 per month? Your campaign is likely to include the basics which will get you rankings.
Are you spending $600 per month? Your campaign should include some social network marketing which will help with traffic generation.
Are you spending $800-$1,000 per month? Your campaign probably includes pay-per-click management, but the ppc budget is a separate cost.
Are you spending between $2,000 to $5,000 per month? Your campaign is likely to include the ppc management AND the actual ppc costs with Google Adwords, or Yahoo Search Marketing.
Keep the above in mind when figuring out your goals in the online marketing field. Be reasonable and understand that you truly get what you pay for.

Google is well known as the biggest and most relevant search engine result page producer. But what if Google was not really relevant at all? The truth is that Google is constantly updating their algorithm to prevent SEO’s like us from being able to manipulate them and put our clients on their first page. Why is Google constantly updating? It is partly because they want to find that highest point where their algorithm cannot be touched. Unfortunatly they are a long way off.
Google has many “items” in their algorithm that take the spidered information and categorize it dynamically “on-the-fly” based on a keyword searched. They have a mathmatical way of determining relevance. All these PHD’s on their payroll and common sense has not hit them yet. The Google algo still relies on inbound links within it’s categorization process. Regardless on how much they water down inbound links, the fact that they use them at all to determine a websites importance means that they will never have relevant results. We have personally seen their results manipulated by spammers which place completely irrelevant content on the top for an unrelated keyphrase. In addition, our company has used only white hat tactics to manipulate their results and consistently bring our clients to the first page for their target keywords and phrases.
We have created a mathmatical methodology for a new algorithm that does not allow for spam and does not rely on inbound links. But we probably shouldn’t go and release our spiders just yet… And until Google figures it out they will never be the relevant search engine.
